Last year, the Ford F-150 went through a full redesign, introducing a new look, an upgraded powertrain, and more to Pickens and Anderson, SC, drivers. Though, the Ford Raptor wasn't among the trims to receive an upgrade. This year, Ford is changing that and bringing back the Raptor with some much-needed improvements.
The 2022 F-150 Raptor will come with all the updates of the base F-150 and enhance them with its unique features like a mesh grille, power dome hood with a new heat extractor, blacked-out headlights and taillights, a wider front skid plate, steel bumpers, plus others. As for its powertrain, Greenville, SC residents will see the new Ford Raptor come with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The output isn't known yet, but it's expected to at least match last gens 450 horsepower.
Outside the introduction of an upgraded Raptor and the F-150 Lightning, the Ford F-150 is staying relatively the same. This vehicle will still come with the same six trims it did last year. As a reminder, the six trims of the F-150 are:
Each trim of the F-150 is attached to a 10-speed automatic transmission and is powered by one of six different powertrains. While we won't list each powertrain here, the most significant is the base 3.3-liter V6, the 5.0-liter V8, and the hybrid option, which sees a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 combined with an electric motor and a battery pack.
